Professional Development Symposium

The Power of AI in Education and the Workplace: Navigating the Future Together

The Third Professional Development Symposium of the School of General Education and Languages, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) was held on 27 June 2023. Entitled The Power of AI in Education and the Workplace: Navigating the Future Together, this year’s symposium facilitated critical and constructive conversations between educators, students, and industry experts on the current and future state of AI in education and the workplace and on its ethical and societal implications.

The Symposium Organising Committee developed an exciting interdisciplinary programme that included three renowned keynote speakers, each bringing their considerable expertise with somewhat different yet important aspects of AI: Professor Dragan GAŠEVIĆ (Monash University), Professor Calvin WONG (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University), and Mr Otto LAM (Aquitaine Advisors). In addition to our keynote speakers, we had a diverse range of presenters who shared their experiences on topics ranging from industry-specific AI applications to teacher development communities around AI.

If you missed our symposium, please check out the playlist of this year's presentations here. The keynote speeches are below.
