Admission Information for HD/AD Students/Graduates (Year-3 Entry)

THEi offers a wide range of applied science-oriented degree programmes for Higher Diploma (HD) and Associate Degree (AD) students and graduates.  

 

Starting from 2024/25 academic year, THEi offers 24 programmes under the Year-3 Admissions Scheme, including 9 programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) and 15 programmes under the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) respectively.  Please refer to the table of "Full-time Programmes" for details.

With effect from 1 January 2024, this new organisational structure has been used, the three existing Faculties (Faculty of Design and Environment, Faculty of Management and Hospitality and Faculty of Science and Technology) have been replaced by six Academic Departments.  
The subsidy is only applicable to eligible local students and tenable for the normal duration of the programme.   For details, please refer to the below websites:

3 The medium of instruction for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy (Program Code: ST125207) is Chinese (Cantonese).  This new degree programme for Academic Year 2024/25 is under accreditation.  Latest programme curriculum and relevant information will be updated on the THEi website (http://www.thei.edu.hk).  THEi reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering campus(es)/class venue(s) before class commencement if circumstances so warrant.  Details will be announced on the THEi website.

4 The programme has been included in the second round of “Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes” of the Education Bureau.  The programme will undergo re-accreditation by the HKCAAVQ and the programme title is subject to change.

5 The programme codes of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management programme has also been updated from DS145110 (Full-time) & DS525110 (Part-time) to ST145208 (Full-time) & ST525208 (Part-time) from 1 January 2024 onwards.  The programme was one of the programmes under the Faculty of Design and Environment before 1 January 2024.

6 With effect from AY2024/25, the Programme will offer two specialisations, namely "Sports Therapy" and "Sports Management".

General Entrance Requirements 

  • Higher Diploma OR equivalent sub-degree qualifications in a relevant area of study.
  • Please refer to link for Advanced Standing & Credit Transfer / Module Exemption.
  • Additional Core Modules are required for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.
  • ​All applicants are screened and selected by an Admission and Interview Panel. Interviews are conducted in regard to the medium of instruction of the programme.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are charged according to the number of credit points taken during a semester and subject to annual review. The tuition fees for the AY2024/25 are from HK$2,695 to HK$3,505 per credit point. Additional core module(s) may be required prior to commencement or during Year-3 study. Additional tuition fees will be charged according to the number of credit points taken, if any.

Depending on the requirements of individual programmes, students may be required to attend additional training and industrial attachments, for which separate fees will be charged.

Finance Assistance

Students may apply for the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP), the Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS) and the Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) administered by the HKSAR Government’s Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA). Eligibility of individual students for specific schemes is subject to the WFSFAA’s assessment and confirmation.
