On 9 Sep 2019, the Research Grants Council (RGC) announced the results of this year's funding exercise for the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector.  THEi received nine Faculty Development Scheme awards for projects led by individual researchers on a wide variety of topics; one Inter-institutional Development Scheme award for organizing seminars on urban forest; and one Institutional Development Scheme-Collaborative Research Grant award for the development of an automobile emissions detection system to combat roadside air pollution.  The amount of research grants obtained came to an impressive sum of HK$11.2 million.   The awards will enable THEi academics to carry out high quality research in their specialty areas in the coming three years.
