A number of THEi Surveying students are working on 3D-laser scanning and related areas as their Final Year Projects. 3D-laser scanning is an innovative technology applied to record the configuration and dimensions of existing spaces and buildings in detail and in 3-dimension. In collaboration with the HD in Surveying Programme of IVE (Morrison Hill), five surveying students and their supervisor attended a workshop on the application of 3D-laser scanning on 3 October 2019. The workshop covered the principles and mechanism of the way 3D-laser digital scanning works and the basic techniques in operating the scanner. The workshop enabled the participants in equipping hands-on and updated knowledge and skills of applying the latest technology in the surveying profession. The experience gained will certainly enhance their competitive edges upon graduation.
