With ‘quality education’ as the overarching theme, the international conference World Education Day (28 – 30 September 2018) attracted 1,500 academics from 49 markets.  Ms Susan CHAN, Public Relations and Management Teaching Fellow, presented the conference paper “Insights for language pedagogy: development of bilingualism in Hong Kong”.  Much of the discussion was around what language can serve as the best medium of instruction, how we could help students with weaker language capabilities keep up with progress and feel engaged in class, and the importance of both English and Mandarin for work-readiness.  The conference covers discussion on global program, online and smart education, international ideas laboratory, science hub and quality education.  Keynote speakers of the conference were all Nobel Prize Laureates of recent years.
