On-the-job-training Allowance Pilot Scheme

A two-year On-the-Job Training Allowance Pilot Scheme launched in 2023 offers an advancement opportunity to employees in the Construction Industry to pursue a Construction-related Part-time Bachelor’s Degree qualification while working. With the flexible study plan provided, employees will be given a speedy path to acquire professional knowledge in THEi and gain real-life work experience in the workplace at the same time, which will be advantageous to their future career development. Also, allowance from the Government will be given to enrolled students to support their continued education development.

Construction companies can be benefited from the Scheme by supporting their staff to study THEi’s construction-related degree programmes and/or recruiting our students to become their staff, who will still be studying a degree programme in a flexible study mode and could enter the construction industry before the completion of their degree programme.

In 2025, the Government and the Construction Industry Council jointly allocate funding to continue the provision of on-the-job training subsidies to trainees enrolling in construction-related degree programmes in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years.
