The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with At-Sunrice Global Chef Academy (At-Sunrice), a Singaporean international culinary institute, to advance bilateral exchanges of students and teachers in promoting internationalisation and the upgrading of training in culinary arts and the managerial capabilities of both regions.    
 
The VTC’s Executive Director Carrie YAU and At-Sunrice’s Director LIEW Kwok-leong witnessed the milestone collaboration, where THEi’s President Professor David LIM and At-Sunrice’s Founder and Director Dr Kwan LUI signed the MOU.  
 
The partnership pursues opportunities for exchanges of students and teachers. Diploma credentials in culinary arts of At-Sunrice are recognised by THEi and the graduates can come to Hong Kong to study THEi’s top-up Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts and Management programme.Subsequent workplace attachment as early as this September can be arranged. The two institutions’ teaching staff will also visit each other’s teaching facilities and exchange views on culinary vocational education. It is hoped that their international horizons can be extended as a result.     
 
At-Sunrice was founded in 2001 and is the first training and accreditation institute in professional culinary arts that has been conferred formal recognition in the areas of continuing education and training. Students are admitted from more than 34 countries and regions, including North America, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia Pacific. They are taught skills and techniques in fusing Oriental and Western cuisines, traditional and contemporary cooking, as well as herbal and spice preparations.    
 
The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member of the VTC Group. It offers vocationally-oriented degree programmes across three faculties: Design, Management and Hospitality, and Science and Technology. The programmes are in areas where the VTC has strengths, and which are also in growth industries not only in Hong Kong but also across the region.
