THEi is proud to announce that Dr. Del Wong recently received Terry J. Housh Outstanding Young Investigator Award of the Year. This award is given by the USA-based National Strength and Conditioning Association in recognition of noteworthy contributions to the field of applied exercise and sport science to a researcher who has been in the field for seven years or less. He is the first person from the Asian region to receive this international award. The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) was founded in 1978 aiming to link academic theorists with practical applications. Since its inception, the NSCA has grown to nearly 30,000 members in 72 countries and become the global leader in the research and education of strength and conditioning professionals.

Dr. Wong is Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Sports and Recreation Management degree based in THEi’s Faculty of Management and Hospitality. He has published more than 46 articles in SCI international journals, in which one article has been cited >100 times. He is now serving as editorial advisory board for Science and Medicine in Football (Impact Factor (IF): 1.93), editorial board for Journal of Sports Science and Medicine (IF: 0.75) and European Journal of Sports and Exercise Sciences, and associate editor for the Journal of Physical Education and Sport. In addition, he is the scientific reviewer for nine international journals including The American Journal of Sports Medicine (IF: 3.79), Journal of Sports Sciences (IF: 1.93), Sensors (IF: 1.74), International Journal of Sports Medicine (IF: 2.43), International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance (IF: 1.80), European Journal of Sport Science (IF: 0.98), International SportMed Journal (IF: 0.73), International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion (IF: 1.05), and Public Health Nursing (IF: 0.72). His strong academic background combined with excellence in applied research provides our students with the perfect blend of qualities needed in support of this vocationally-based degree programme.
