Event Objectives:

Living and dying, are the two inevitable facts of life. In journeying between death and life, many of us will embark on our own quest to find the meaning of our life and what it means to die. How do we define life? What does death signify? We all have our own experiences and apprehensions in our understanding of life and death and the meaning of pain, grief and joy.

Journeying Between Death and Life is a series of competitions that aim to inspire teenagers to think about what it is that we esteem in life, before we can reflect on the meaning of death. The competitions aim to help the public and, in particular, youth, to contemplate a more nuanced understanding of the dual processes of life and death. This contemplation should inspire reflections on self-worth, promote positive thinking, and train resilience to face the grief of the loss of loved ones.

Event Details:

The event consists of three competitions: a composition competition, a photo competition, and a slogan writing competition. These competitions will allow the public to explore the process of living and dying from different perspectives, and hope to help them find a life purpose. The best entries for each competition will be exhibited at Shatin Town Hall and THEi (Kowloon Tong) Campus and a sharing session will be arranged at the Exhibition Gallery, Shatin Town Hall. For our sharing session, we will invite speakers - from people who have lived through near-death experiences to people who have lost a loved one - to celebrate the positive aspects of life, both living and dying.
