International Conference: Overcoming Challenges in Active Ageing 2014

The Technological and Higher Education Institute (THEi) of Hong Kong is organising the International Conference entitled Overcoming Challenges in Active Ageing. The theme of the Conference is “Active Ageing”.

The aim of the Conference is to provide a platform for researchers, health professionals, engineers, IT professionals, product designers and financial consultants to share and exchange their experiences and expertise in the area of elderly care, as well as facilitating active ageing. The Conference invites submissions of extended abstracts in the form of a synopsis. The abstract should be in the broad area of elderly care and facilitating active ageing.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • The Present and Future Challenges of Ageing
  • Social, Behavioural and Biological Science
  • Clinical and Community Policy and Practice
  • Technology and Active Ageing
  • Age-friendly Designs
  • Financial Needs, Policy and Issues

Registration of the conference is required. Please fill in and return the registration form (http://www.thei.edu.hk/ocaa/registration.docx) together with a crossed cheque payable to “Vocational Training Council” to the following address:

Please use separate cheques for the conference and workshop registration fees

Cost
The early bird (on or before 10 February, 2014) registration fee per person for the Conference is HKD$300 and that for the workshop “Nutrition and Dietary Planning for the Elderly” HKD$200. The regular registration fee is HKD$500 each for both events.
Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided to participants during the Conference.

Guidelines for Submitting Abstracts
Before submission, please download the abstract template (http://www.thei.edu.hk/ocaa/abstract.docx) for the preparation of abstract. The abstract should be a concise summary of your presentation. Please avoid using scientific or engineering symbols, acronyms and bullets. It should be typed single-spaced in 12 point. Be sure to adhere to the word limitation (400 words).

Abstracts should be submitted together with the registration form and a crossed cheque payable to “Vocational Training Council” to the following address:

Oral Presentation
Please submit your abstract (within 400-word) to the Secretariat (email: ocaa@vtc.edu.hk) by 31 January, 2014, the presentation is scheduled to 15-20 min.

Abstract Review and Selection
Decisions will be announced around 10 February 2014. Decisions are final based on the abstract submitted by the deadline.

All abstract submissions will be reviewed by a Programme Committee chaired by Prof. Kris WONG (Professor, Faculty of Science and Technology, THEi). Selection of abstract is based on the quality of the abstract.

Conference Registration is required
All authors with accepted abstracts must register and submit payment to attend the conference.
